Day 2

Well! I am definitely getting into the habit of posting at early morning times. It's starting to just feel RIGHT. I'm not certain I could post any earlier now!

Anyway, today I tackled some setting, plot weaving. Obviously it's all still rather vague, but I think I have the gist of it at the moment. No point in linking something so liable to change very soon, so I'll just outline my basic plan.

So the time is going to be sometime a few hundred years in the future. A random year like 2298 or maybe 2365. Doesn't really matter. So space exploration is at the point where people are colonizing different planets pretty vigorously. However, the caveat is that actual spacefaring missions are all commercialized, BUT the governments (which I'm going to keep fairly similar to modern day ones) control all launches. Any unauthorized launch zones are closed down, usually by force.

But now that there are multiple Earth colonies, and smuggling is becoming a lucrative, but extremely dangerous business. Thus, the top group of smugglers decide to set up their own launch (I haven't yet decided how: through a hijacking of a commercial mission, or by setting up a pad somewhere remote, like Antarctica, and trying to launch off the radar -- which would be a more difficult and less exciting choice).

I'll start by describing the group, probably through an introduction in the form of a smuggling run. Then the rest of the first half will cover the whole operation of getting a personal launch. They will use it to set up a base on a colony, and run their jobs from that spot. The second half will discuss sudden difficulties with finding jobs, and the complications that arise during the first one they receive.

If it seems like I'm being vague, you're very perceptive! The reason for this vagueness is simple: I don't want to set my mind too much on anything just quite yet. I just want to have a basic idea of where I'm going before tomorrow's task.

"What's tomorrow's task?" you know oblige me by asking. It's a secret! Nah, just kidding. I'm going to start on character sketches! These will be in the forms of flash fics and I hope to do two a day. I also want to set up as much of the future novel storyline and setting as possible, but maybe I'll just create random snapshots of critical moments in their lives.
